Savasana Meditation

Meditation is a purely subjective experiential knowledge. Great Sages have tried hard to describe their higher experiences to us. But none of them have described them completely. Because the experiences that you get from meditation are subjective and are beyond all descriptions.

Meditation is a unique experience, that one must approach with boldness and with an open mind. Just experience the state with full awareness without analyzing or resisting the experience.

The meditative state is a no-thought state. The intense meditative state can be acquired only when we are comfortable with the meditation pose for a longer duration of time. One such comfortable and easiest technique of meditation is Savasana or Shavasana.

Why Savasana for meditation?

Savasana is a classical meditation technique for relaxation. There are several stages in meditation. One has to go through these stages to reach the final state of no-thought awareness.

There are a lot of poses followed by people, during their meditation session. But the poses other than Savasana, introduce discomforts. In the case of sitting pose, people lose interest in meditation because of their inability to sit in one pose for a longer duration. This leads to a subsequent lack of motivation and will make meditation a boring affair.

Effects of meditation become evident only after several months of consistent practice. So, it becomes important for you to choose a pose for meditation, which does not strain your body much. The discomfort does not permit you to transcend body awareness and leaves you back fighting against the pains in different body parts.

Savasana is a very comfortable position that allows you to be in the posture for a long period without any discomfort or pain. Thus you can easily transcend body awareness, followed by mind awareness, and subsequently, experience a thought-free state.

Added features of Savasana for meditation

Initially, we are likely to fall asleep. But after consistent practice, it automatically reduces and increases the awareness.
